An Introduction to Mobile POS

Mobile POS is an application for smart phones and tablets which allows employees to input orders tableside. Prior to installing Mobile POS, users are required to purchase both a Mobile POS and a Terminal or Back Office Only license via the Dealer Portal. Currently the app can be purchased from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, and downloaded from the Dealer Portal (Android version only) or \FPOS5\Install\APK folder. The app will prompt the user to upgrade when a new version is available, as shown below. For more information on supported devices, see Supported Devices (Mobile POS).

ClosedSystem Requirements and Prerequisites
  • Smart phone or tablet with the Android or iOS operating system
  • A wireless or LAN connection. All Mobile POS devices must be connected to the same network. Users can continue to use the app in the event of power loss or loss of WiFi signal; however, the device must be connected to the WiFi network once the Day Divide has occurred to allow data to sync.
  • Open firewall ports 65000 TCP and 65001 UDP (these are the default port settings, and may be different based on your system's settings). In FPOS v5.0.96.15 and higher, the firewall exceptions will be added automatically when the Mobile POS Service starts.
  • FPOS 5.0.96.10 or later installed, selecting the Mobile POS option during installation
  • Mobile POS, downloaded and installed from the Google Play or Apple App Store
  • If credit cards are in use, the credit card processor must support end-to-end encryption
ClosedMobile POS Versioning

Versioning of this mobile application requires that the user run the same versions of the Mobile POS app and the Mobile POS Service Host. You can check your Mobile POS version number in the Functions screen of the app, and the Mobile POS Service Host version from the menu bar of the service, as shown below.
